Leonardo Gramegna got his degree cum Laude from Bari’s Conservatorio di Musica “N. Piccinni” receiving the mention of honor. He also got a Degree in Architecture at Bari’s Politecnico. He made his debut at Martina Franca’s Festival della Valle d’Itria singing Meyerbeer‘s Les Huguenots. At the 33rd edition of the same Festival, Leonardo sang Hérode in Salomé by R. Strauss – in its French original edition.
Over the most recent years he attracted the attention of audience and critics in important theatres in Italy and abroad singing in Tosca, La Bohème, Il Trovatore, Don Carlo, Otello, Aida, Norma, La Traviata, Nabucco, Carmen, La Fanciulla del West, Madama Butterfly, La Vestale, Oberto Conte di San Bonifacio, Giovanna d’Arco, Marino Faliero, Giove a Pompei, Doña Flor, Mefistofele, La Forza del Destino, at Venezia’s Teatro La Fenice, Massimo di Palermo, Grimaldi Forum di Monte-Carlo, Stadttheater di Graz, Wiener Stadthalle, Sejong Center Seoul, Pavarotti di Modena, Pergolesi di Jesi, Municipale di Piacenza, Opera di Tirana, Nacional di Panama, Cairo Opera House, Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, Theater der Stadt Schweinfurt, Music Theater di Basilea, Stadttheater di Klagenfurt,Meistersingerhalle di Norimberg, Opera di Timisoara, Opera di Almaty, Opera di Skopje, Festival de Wiltz, Xanten–Arena, Opera di Krasnoyarsk, Staadttheater di Oldenburg, Filarmonica di San Pietroburgo, Berliner Operngruppe, Donizetti di Bergamo, Verdi di Sassari, Eskalduna di Bilbao. He also sang in Perosi’s La Risurrezione di Cristo and La Passione di Cristo by Paisiello at the closing ceremony of Expo 2015 Italia at Milan’s Cathedral. He made his debut in Beethoven ‘s Nine Symphony at Catania’s Theatre Massimo – V. Bellini conducted by Xu Zhong. Leonardo is always giving concerts and recitals with renowned Institutions such as Gala New Silk Road for UNESCO in Xi’An with the Xi’An Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Oscar Award winner TAN DUN; Oriental Dreams in Russia with the Moscow International House of Music and at the St.Petersburg Oktyabrskiy Big Concert Hall; at the Niigata Concert Hall Ryutopia in Niigata, Ginza’s Oji Hall in Tokyo, and with the Fondazione Arena di Verona in Brussels; the 1st International Kazan Autumn – Open Air Opera Festival in Kazan (Tatarstan), Kiev Ucrain National Philarmonic, and Ulsan Hyundai Arts Center (Korea); recently also at Vienna’s Musikverein. His recordings include Salomé by Richard Strauss, Mayerbeer’s Les Huguenots, Proserpine by G. Paisiello, Salvator Rosa by C. Gomes, under the label Dynamic (CD); Marino Faliero by G. Donizetti under the label Naxos (CD-DVD); and the sacred ortorio S. Agostino – Il figlio delle lacrime by Father C. Crispo under the Edizioni Il Chiostro (CD-DVD). In October 2018 he sang Opera Buddha Passion by Tan Dun in Chinese and Sanskrit with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Hamer Hall of Arts Center Melbourne (Australia). He is presently voice teacher at the P.Mascagni Conservatory of Livorno, Italy.
